Many years ago, Paul Litchfield of Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company purchased 16,000 acres which would be named after its founder and forever be known as Goodyear, Arizona. The cotton grown in the area was used to make the rubber for airplanes in WWI. When the town of Goodyear was later incorporated, there were 151 homes, 250 apartments, a grocery store, service station, and beauty and barbershops. It was the ideal small town. It later became an official city in 1985 and has since experiences a massive economic and population boom!
